Events

All money raised by the Winchester Widows, goes to support the Challenge Ranch, a ranch for underprivileged children here in east San Diego county. We truly believe in the ranch and the work they do. It's a terrific bunch of kids!

Poker Ride

The Winchester Widows recently had their first-ever
Horsecamp Expo Poker Ride. It took place in the
Anza-Borrego Desert at the wonderful facility, the
Butterfield
Ranch, on October 11, 2008.

The weather was perfect, the BBQ dinner was great and the
dance was entertaining. Mark October 9-11 on your
calendars so you can attend the next Horsecamp/Poker ride
at the beautiful Manzanita Horse Camp near the Golden Acorn!

Victorian Cotillion

The Winchester Widows invite you to their third annual Cotillion. A cotillion is an old-fashioned dance where everyone is required to dress in period costumes. There will be a dance caller, a silent auction, a gentleman's parlor, raffle prizes and an old-tyme photography booth. It will be like stepping back in time. Mark your calendar for Sept. 19, 2009 and be at the Descanso Town Hall!
Ticket prices are $15 for a single ticket and $25 per couple.

Train Robbery

In October 2007 and again in June 2009, the WW were involved in the Great Train Robbery Dinner Theater held in Campo. Some of the ladies were involved in the actual robbing of the train, while others were staged actors on board performing skits for the passengers. Look for the event again in Oct 2009!

Community

The Widows have many other community events throughout the year that they are invited to participate in. Events such as private parties, rodeos, skits, jail and bails, hosting, and lending atmosphere to public events.

Pancake Breakfast

For years, the Widows hosted an annual Pancake Breakfast that drew hundreds of hungry patrons to dish up a dose of Western Hospitality. Held in April in Lakeside at the VFW, it was successful for a number of years. Although the event has been put on temporary hold, it may re-surface again in the future.

Celebrating a Milestone

The Winchester Widows celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2007. With a dinner and award ceremony, followed by games and prizes,
the ladies partied into the evening. Although it was an event that was only open to WW and guests, it marked an important
milestone in Widow history.

Get-Togethers

Trail riding is a popular pastime when there are no parades. The women try to get together as often as they can for a little R&R.
